Roy Smyth was initially a landscape photographer, capturing his native Ireland and mainland Europe. He became interested in erotic photography following a week-long photographic trip to England in 2003. He says this first week's shoot really fired his imagination when he saw how he could portray the beauty of the female body in a more artistic way than he had previously envisaged. This is evident in the often 'painterly' style of his work.
Following several exhibitions in Ireland and opening his studio in 2006 he is developing his artistic works both in the studio and on location. He is currently working on a new series of works for an exhibition scheduled to tour Ireland in 2008.
