English-born Alan Daniels studied fine art/sculpture at Maidstone College of Art. He worked on science fiction paintings for the Young Artists agency and airbrushed pin-up art for galleries and publications such as Penthouse, Playboy, Mayfair, Zoom, Avant Garde, Omni, Club International and Men Only. Working with Paper Moon Graphics in Los Angeles prompted a move to California. His 'Heavenly Hussys' started to develop futuristic overtones during work on ‘Blade Runner’. Initially his pin-ups were perfect airbrushed icons conforming to an idealised male fantasy. Daniels felt these were too antiseptic, leaving no room for emotion. He says his Hussys are “more of the girl next door, someone you could hold a conversation with. These are not in-peril, submissive girls, these are self assured women”.
He still lives in California with his family.
